Wranglers Roster to Have New Faces

March 30, 2007 - After advancing to the Texas League championship series in 2006, it is not unexpected that the 2007 Wichita Wranglers will be staffed with many new faces as the members of the memorable club from last season progress up the ladder. The Wranglers will break camp on the 30th in Surprise, AZ , with a hitting lineup that bears little resemblance to the 2006 club, returning just three players from last year's Wranglers, catchers Damaso Espino and Adam Donachie and outfielder CHris Lubanski. On the mound, it is a little different as there will be seven familiar faces, including late season additions Luke Hochevar, Greg Atencio and Jarod Plummer who spent the last few weeks with Wichita. Other returning pitchers are Billy Buckner, Gabe DeHoyos, Juan Cedeno and Cody Smith, who was a perfect 9-0 in relief last season for the Wranglers. Another familiar face will have an unfamiliar roll for the Wranglers in '07. Mike Stodolka, who pitched for WIchita in 2005, is coming back as a first baseman. Espino and Donachie should be a dependable catching duo for the club. Donachie was just returned to Kansas CIty by Baltimore, who took him in the Rule 5 draft in December, but did not keep him on their Major League roster, thus had to return him to the Royals. The Wranglers will open the season at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on April 5 versus their 2006 Championship Series opponent, the Corpus Christi Hooks. Pitchers - Greg Atencio, Billy Buckner, Juan Cedeno, Danny Christensen, Mike Connolly, Jason Cromer, Gabe DeHoyos, Luke Hochevar, Dusty Hughes, Jarod Plummer, Arthur Santos, Cody Smith. Catchers - Adam Donachie, Damaso Espino. Infielders - Craig Brazell (1B), Mike Stodolka (1B), Jace Brewer (SS), Irving Falu (2B), Richard Lewis (2B), Ed Lucas (3B). Outfielders - Adam Greenberg, Onil Joseph, Chris Lubanski, Jorge Padilla, Geraldo Valentin.
